Sita Kalyanam is an annual event being celeberated
at Rikhiadham, Deoghar, Jharkhand the tapobhumi of Parmahamsa
Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Usually it is in the months od
November and December the dates for the event is announced
by Paramhas ji according to the calculation of the Hindu calendar.
Sita Kalyanam is the reminiscence of a sacred event of the
distant past, it celebrates the day Sri Ram and Sita entered
into matrimony. The original event took place many aeons ago,
but is still remembered on the 5th day of the sacred month
of Margashirsha as per the Indian lunar calendar.
This even is presided over by Swami Satyananda. In the five
days celebrations chanting, satsang, kirtan and yajna (traditional
fire ceremony) is done. It is a time of great celebration
but also a very sacred and auspicious ceremony which creates
and incredible atmosphere for spiritual growth.
The spirit at Sita Kalyanam is to give and share joy, happiness
and wealth with our needy and deserving relatives in human
society.
Travel to Rikhia
Rikhia is a small little village in Deoghar district of Jharkhand
State in India. We recommend that the participants should
directly contact the Ashram for accommodation requests. It
is best if they can accommodation at the Ashram as the purpose
is to get the maximum out of the Yajna Celebrations.

Mostly the participants stay in the nearby town of Deoghar
(6 kms from Rikhia) and commute to the Alakh Bara by motor
rickshaw, taxi or trekker.

These are among the best hotels at Deoghar and they are clean

booking made as during the Sita Kalyanam celebrations they
are much in demand and are mostly full.

The nearest railway station is Jasidih (10 kms from Deoghar)
which is on the Howrah (Kolkata) - Patna - Delhi line.
The following trains are available to reach Jasidih which
is the railhead to reach Deoghar and subsequently to Rikhiadham
Ashram.
